Seven years ago, MDG assisted Plan B in expanding their former offices. After analyzing future needs, MDG discussed future growth hurtles so the owner knew it was only a matter of time before he needed to look for a building of his own.
In 2014, the owner purchased his dream building in an industrial park just miles away from his home. The original plan was to renovate the existing call center space. After further inspection, the building was found to have severe mold and water problems, so while the damage was being mitigated, MDG got to work planning the new and improved interior design of Plan B’s new corporate offices.
The challenge was to create an inspiring space that encouraged creativity and collaboration. As structural engineers and scaffold designers of major US Landmarks in New York City and all over the world, MDG decided to take a cue from the language of these urban engineers and bring them to the work space. From the custom scaffold shelving system that organizes heavy industrial samples and cinderblock work tables for large plans to the rivet “crown moulding” and the brightly colored creative lounge, the space encourages a fluid work environment. There is even a “Zen” room for when the creative mind needs a break!
MDG worked in tandem with Horgan Construction and their architectural team to bring this project in at deadline. The master planning, interior space planning, elevation and ceiling designs, lighting design, specification of materials, specification of furnishings, procurement of furnishings as well as project management was all provided by the MDG design team. The job was completed July 2015.
