Kitchen Consigliere - South Jersey Restaurant Interior Design

Kitchen Consigliere

Collingswood, NJ

Chef Angelo Lutz spent nine years in jail on racketeering charges stemming from the arrest of mobster Joey Merlino. After completing his sentence, this reformed mafia man took to his love of cooking and opened the award-winning Kitchen Consigliere. Struggling to turn a profit and grow his business, Angelo came to MDG with the goal of expanding by creating a restaurant with a mob theme in an empty storefront in the middle of Collingswood, NJ. MDG delivered with a well-planned and finely executed four-month design-to-open plan. From the gold-framed mob portraits by Perry Milou to the gun sconces, MDG focused on creating a Little Italy dining experience with a homage to kitsch and a nod to grandmom’s row home in South Philly (sans the plastic furniture covers).
